Air

The Engadine Valley awakens under a blanket of morning fog, transforming the landscape into a scene straight out of a dream. The mist hangs delicately in the air, softening the world around it. Trees, mountains, and paths seem to float, giving the impression that the valley itself is suspended in time, caught between reality and fantasy. This ethereal fog, known locally as the "Engadine Snake," meanders through the valley, its tendrils wrapping around the terrain, creating an atmosphere of mystery and enchantment.

As the sun begins to rise, its rays pierce through the veil of fog, casting a gentle, diffused light that makes everything appear lighter, almost weightless. The familiar surroundings take on a new, almost otherworldly quality, as if they belong to a different realm altogether. The fog renders the majestic peaks softer, less imposing, while the forests take on a ghostly appearance, their silhouettes barely visible through the mist.

In these early hours, the Engadine is a place of quiet wonder, where every turn reveals a new secret, every shadow holds a story. The fog brings with it a sense of peace, a pause from the fast pace of life, allowing those who witness it to feel as though they are walking through a living, breathing painting. It’s a fleeting magic, one that disappears as the day warms, but it leaves behind a sense of serenity that lingers long after the mist has lifted.
