Snow

Snow is one of my favorite subjects to photograph in the Engadine, transforming the landscape into a soft, magical world. It drapes the terrain like powdered sugar, and after heavy snowfalls, trees sag under the weight until they release it in a gentle cascade.

Walking through deep snow is a meditative experience, each step cushioned and sound muffled. Whether on skis or snowshoes, I’m reminded of our adaptations to this frozen realm while respecting the snow’s untamed power. In winter’s depths, snow isolates the valley, creating a peaceful, timeless stillness.

Photographing snow is about capturing its beauty and mood—the light sparkling on its surface, the soft shadows, and the ever-changing scenes. Each snowfall offers a new canvas, a fleeting masterpiece of nature.

Through my lens, I strive to convey the serenity and strength of the snowy Engadine, a tribute to its quiet majesty and the balance between humanity and nature.
