Water

In the heart of the Engadine, water is more than just a presence—it's the lifeblood of the landscape. This valley, nestled high in the Swiss Alps, is crisscrossed by a network of lakes, rivers, and streams, each playing its part in the region's breathtaking beauty. From the still, mirror-like surfaces of the alpine lakes to the rushing torrents of mountain rivers, water is everywhere, shaping and reflecting the world around it.

As you wander through the Engadine, the sound of flowing water accompanies you, a constant reminder of nature's dynamic energy. The lakes, with their crystal-clear waters, reflect the towering peaks and vast skies, creating scenes of serene perfection. Each lake has its own character, from the calm, almost meditative stillness of Silsersee to the wild, untamed shores of Lago di Poschiavo. These waters, fed by glaciers and mountain springs, are pure, cold, and life-giving.

The rivers and streams, in contrast, bring a sense of movement and vitality to the landscape. They carve their way through the valley, their currents strong and unstoppable, shaping the land over millennia. These waters are a reminder of the constant change and flow of time, a symbol of the enduring yet ever-changing nature of the Engadine itself.

In this land of abundant water, every drop tells a story. The rivers and lakes of the Engadine are not just scenic wonders; they are the essence of this region, capturing its spirit and energy in every ripple and reflection.
