Green

Spring in the Engadine arrives suddenly, almost without warning, as if in a hurry to awaken the landscape from its winter slumber. It’s a season of vibrant transformation, where the meadows and vegetation explode into a vivid, almost exaggerated green. The intensity of the colors is breathtaking, a signal that the long wait for warmth is finally over.

Everywhere I look, flowers burst into bloom, carpeting the fields with their delicate beauty. This fleeting moment is one I eagerly anticipate each year, as I rush to capture the lush greenery and the blossoms before the harvest begins. There’s a sense of urgency in the air, a reminder that this brilliant display of life is as temporary as it is beautiful.

As the season progresses, the mountains too begin to shed their winter coat. The snow retreats, revealing pastures that climb ever higher, reclaiming the slopes with their rich, green hues. The transformation is mesmerizing, a slow but steady shift from the stark whiteness of winter to the full bloom of life.

Photographing these moments fills me with a sense of wonder. The contrast between the fresh, green meadows and the still snow-capped peaks above is striking, a perfect balance of seasons meeting and intertwining. It’s a time of renewal, of life returning in full force, and I feel privileged to witness and document this rebirth.

Spring in the Engadine is a celebration of color and growth, a brief but brilliant chapter in the story of the year. Through my photography, I strive to capture the essence of this season—the lush greens, the vibrant flowers, and the ever-changing mountains—as nature awakens and flourishes in a spectacular display of life.
